The child understands we are stewards of nature. Nature is not to be worshiped. We worship the Creator. The removal of some animals in a given area maintains a balance between prey and predator as well as keeps the overall population healthy. We see first hand what nature does to animals when the demand for food in an area of land cannot be sustained. They starve to death. We also see what happens when a species becomes over populated in an area and the food sources meet the demand. Disease like distemper, parvo, rabies, and mange.

Poor kitty. Was he a danger to someone? I hate to see kitties like that… but then, if it was in my yard, I guess I would have to trap it.

John is ten. We use cage traps and foothold traps.
