Hypothetical Situation: What Would You Do?

What if you had an adult child who was addicted to cocaine.

What specific things would you do in order to show/practice love to that child?

What specific things would you NOT do in order to show/practice love to that child?

Mark 10:21 Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.”

John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

Laurie, I think that if everything has been tried, the only thing left to do is leave it in God’s hands and then be ready to receive the prodigal when the time comes. Make sure the child understands they have not surrendered their place and that there is a place to come home to in time of need.

I will tie him up to the leg of my bed if necessary; I will sell everything I have in order to give him the best medical treatment. I am a mother, I can never give up, at any age, he will always be my son. No matter he has an addition or has cancer, I must to protect him, and do all the possible. Now, if he is disobedient, not because a mental illness but because his will, that is another story.
