Bible Study Software

Hi Laurie,

I recently made a request of my husband for a Mother’s Day / Birthday / Christmas / 50th Birthday present. He suggested I ask Harvey what he thinks of it. So…would you be so kind as to ask Harvey what he thinks of Logos Bible Study Software?

His love,
Stacy

I personally use BibleWorks, and have never used Logos (too expensive to have both programs), so I cannot speak from experience about Logos. I originally chose BibleWorks because of what Greek materials it offered. Logos has since come up with much the same stuff. Logos certainly has lots more commentaries and other books available than BibleWorks. I think Logos would be a very good choice.

Here is a site which lists the contents of Logos Bible Software packages.

Here is a comparison review.

Harvey and Stacy, it’s true that Logos offers the broadest digital library for biblical and theological study. Our goal is to publish an electronic edition of every Bible reference book ever written. We’re at 7000+ titles and counting… 🙂

I think you’ll also find that Logos raises the bar in terms of ease of use while sacrificing none of the power of a dedicated exegetical package. In other words, we also do Greek, Hebrew, Syriac, Ugaritic and other biblical languages.

In addition to the links above, check out the online video demo of Logos 3:

Logos also offers a 30-day money back guarantee so you can always try it out with no risk.
    I hope this helps!

I’ve been using Logos for about 3 months now and have found it to be a great tool. There are an amazing amount of high quality resources available for it and you can customize it to your particular area of study (original languages, home bible study, etc.) There are also a good number of free resources which are available all over the web. Logos has been a good long-term investment. The more books I add to my library the more valuable it becomes to my studies.

The degree if difficulty on Logos is actually quite high. Sure you can use the search box to show Commentary and Dictionary matches, but beyond that difficulty goes up quickly. To get the most out of it, you almost have to spend additional coin on training in person or via cd/dvd materials.
