A theme that keeps coming up in Archer and Zowie is metamorphosis — something changing from one thing to something different.

There are many things in Archer and Zowie that undergo a metamorphosis — from the microwave, to the penguin aliens, to Zowie herself.

When I was writing Archer and Zowie, an idea that I kept thinking about is that we never really see ourselves. We can see ourselves in a mirror, or see parts of our bodies, or even hear other people’s opinions of us, but we can never really see ourselves — objectively and truly.

Sometimes we need to see ourselves from the outside looking in, and like who that is. When that happens — we undergo metamorphosis.
