There are few educational tools more effective than a blog.
Students should learn how to write. This skill takes practice. A blog site offers great practice.
They learn how to use the most powerful communications tool that is available to the average Joe. There are probably 300 million blog sites today. It is the wave of the future.
They can see how they are improving. This is positive feedback. Over a four-year period, this improvement will be permanent.
The blogging tools are free.
Parents can monitor their children’s progress. If grandparents are helping out with tuition, they can see, too.
Take a look at a few blogs posted by freshmen students. The RPC has a weekly writing assignment in each humanities and social studies high school course.

If tools like these had been available when we were in high school, we would have learned how to write better years earlier.
