Learning to Think Logically

When you turn on your TV or read the newspaper, you are bombarded by propaganda and bad logic everywhere. In this workshop, Nathaniel and Hans introduce ways parents and students can combat the illogic around them. Nathaniel and Hans explain a little of what logic is, and how everyone needs to use more of it. The goal of this workshop is to convince you that logic is fun, and give you something practical you can take home and use. Common logical mistakes and various types of good reasoning are explained, along with a practical suggested course of study for all ages. You will discover how ordinary Christian parents can teach their children logic.

10:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m.

Coffee break, and time at the Bluedorn’s book table

SESSION II

11:00 a.m. -12:00 a.m.

Using Your Thinking Toolbox

Ultimately, it isn’t all the facts that you pour into your child’s head that will count – it’s the enthusiasm he learns for using his mind. Nathaniel and Hans want to make good thinking skills part of every school subject. They show how adding a little logic to boring subjects can turn them into something fun and memorable. Topics include: (a) Why study opposing viewpoints? (b) Evaluating different interpretations of history, (c) Tools for scientific thinking, and (d) How to build a winning science fair project.

Harvest Community Church is located at 6612 S. Howell Ave. in Oak Creek, Wisconsin, about a mile south of Milwaukee’s Mitchell International Airport. Facility is handicap accessible.
